چکیده

Abstract Carbon fibre reinforced composites (CFRC) continue to play a key role in the growth and development of many weight sensitive industries. However, their proliferation has raised increasing concerns regarding required practices strategies deal with these expensive engineered structures at end life cycle. This brought into focus need develop more sustainable efficient recycling solutions for products. Similarly, necessity managing dry carbon scraps generated during manufacturing process CFRC attracted attention recent years. review article provides an overview on advances as well processing scraps. Influential parameters, advantages, drawbacks, possible environmental impacts main technologies waste including mechanical, thermal (pyrolysis fluidised bed), chemical (solvolysis low temperature processing) will be evaluated. Their potential effects mechanical characteristics surface chemistry fibres are assessed. Moreover, methods semi-finished scrap also reviewed. Specific is paid developments producing hybrid yarns nonwovens made fibre. The methodologies developed this area, conditions, other important findings discussed. paper valuable platform researchers decision makers working field by providing clearer picture options available recycle CFRC, developing value-added products using

Image Characterization of Carbon Fibre Reinforced Composites

A new methodology to detect fibres orientation in composite materials, using image processing tools is introduced. Several examples with manufacturing defects are studied using RIMAPS technique and the Variogram method. The characterization is made from digitized images of the samples. Combined use of RIMAPS and Variogram analyses identified the orientation of fibres and determined the values o...

Carbon-fibre reinforced plates for problem fractures.

We report our experience with carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) plates in the management of 19 problem fractures complicated by either infection, nonunion, comminution or contamination. The combination offers secure fixation without inhibition of callus formation.

Some observations in grinding unidirectional carbon fibre-reinforced plastics

This paper investigates the grinding performance of epoxy matrix composites reinforced by unidirectional carbon fibres, using an alumina grinding wheel. Emphasis was placed on understanding the effect of fibre orientations and grinding depths on the grinding force and surface integrity, and on understanding the grinding mechanisms, with a comparison to orthogonal cutting. It was found that grea...

Properties of Hemp Fibre Reinforced Concrete Composites

This research is concerned with the mechanical and physical properties of hemp fibre reinforced concrete (HFRC). An experimental program was developed based on the statistical method of fractional factors design. The variables for the experimental study were: 1) mixing method; 2) fibre content by weight; 3) aggregate size; and 4) fibre length. Their effects on the compressive and flexural perfo...
